Herons

These lifesize bronzes of herons were commissioned by The Royal Palaces of the Oman.

On starting the commission I realised that the intricate feather patterns and the way they folded their wings was important to make the sculpture come alive. I went to the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover to study the birds at close quarters as they have a feeding station near the heronry.
